Bone regeneration is a periodontal surgical procedure that repairs and protects missing bone structures and surrounding tissues. When a tooth is broken or has significant decay, Dr. Fraser might recommend that the tooth be extracted to prevent further infection and to achieve or maintain oral health. If empty or weak areas are left behind following the extraction, Dr. Fraser will place a regenerative bone grafting material in open areas to restore the bone and other tissues.
What to Expect
Dr. Fraser will fold back the gingival tissue during this procedure and remove any disease-causing bacteria. He will place regenerative tissue grafts or regenerative proteins that can be used to encourage the body’s natural ability to heal.
